Hope

Phil Margetts

I shouldn’t have come here. Curiosity had overridden my fear of most things subterranean. I worked along the rows of peculiar sarcophagi, my disappointment growing with each empty vessel. Finally, unfolding itself from the final macabre structure was the lank figure I had hoped to find. Had hoped to love.

Phil Margetts is a teacher by day and poet by night (and at other times). Residing in Muriwai on the beautiful west coast, he has recently discovered the worlds of flash and micro fiction. Phil enjoys the challenge of using a limited number of words and has now realised that you can get by on a very small number of them. When he is not teaching or writing, Phil will be out on Fudge, his faithful mountain bike. Find him on Instagram @philandhiscapsicum.
