Political Porn and the Metaphysical Shift

Steve Liebowitz
A sick fascination arouses me
whenever I turn on the news.

Addictive, I must know
what new disgusting perversion
awaits.

What grosser distortions of
political, lingual and ideological institutions
fobbed off as the new normal?

Alternative facts are so passé.

This stuff used to live under a rock.
Now it’s in the spotlight,
on the front page.

Ratings have never been higher.
Newspapers are back.

The dark, perverse and once unthinkable
is becoming common place.

And we have front row seats.

Traditional porn
sickens after awhile.

This disgusts instantly.

We had a choice with traditional porn.

Political porn and the metaphysical shift
pervasive.

Desire to be a good citizen,
forces one to indulge.

We participate in spite of ourselves
horrified and aroused by fear.
