Red Queen

J. Russell Schneider

The Red Queen
Dwells in a ruined tower
Of eras past,
Deep in the Hallow Wood,
Nightly she searches
For the one
Who’ll set her free,
Scouring the town,
Bringing home
Those caught out late,
And deep in those very woods
She draws a bath,
Believing each time
She’s found the One.
