William Fillmore’s work is a grotesque and surrealistic testament to the indelible sting of nostalgia and regret. It giggles at the seemingly stagnant constancy of individual awareness and the mysterious decay of time. Whether ritualistically constructing and destroying familiar structures, or a humorously modelling a transforming life as it passes from childhood to death, my work is a humble sculptural record of my ridiculous perception of the infinitude of time. It coasts on the edge of reverence for the tradition of object making and the temporality of experiential performance, providing a sarcastic personal vision of both my surreal static present, and the dark mystical future.
