Melissa Woods
yoked together, intertwined
we were
pulled by an intangible energy
they say energy cannot be created or destroyed
it only changes form
love is never gentle
you trudged and then tiptoed
along my eggshell tile.
and sweet blood dripped from your feet…
that caustic scent,
sickly sweet
naked branches of us
crack in many layers deep
the roots of things of
all the things.
