The Ghosts That Stay

Christina Strigas

When they come in the day, I wait.
I hope that opulent shadows
have one-night stands on their paths.

When they come at night
I wonder why they leave sunny hints
of the window half-open.

Another fight between us
leaves ghosts wondering
why we can’t be in love with life

as much as we are with death.
