My name is Kamila Krol and I am a Polish illustrator currently based in Wales. Besides my individual art practice I take part in the Cardiff’s art scene, participating in multiple art events (such as exhibitions or zine fairs) and organising my own from time to time. My creative work focuses on illustration; I create surreal and dreamlike images, often merging sweet and disturbing. Despite the use of the pastel colour palette and soft linework, the themes of my work often reach to the darker side. Accentuating the female perspective and the power of imagination is important to me. The attached selection of work is focused on portraying hidden desires as well as disturbing nightmares – two themes which often surprisingly intertwine. I’m interested in circus and carnivalesque themes as symbols of something deceptive and otherworldy. The circus to me is also a symbol of unlimited expression.
