I’ve been held by a serial killer.
Her tone was flat and informational, but he
recognized the moment for what it was: the first
time she had spread her ribs, exposing the tender
meat below. He was both famished and afraid. L–
like a lover? he stammered.
Like a father.

Lannie Stabile, a Detroiter, often says while some write like a turtleneck sweater, she writes like a Hawaiian shirt. A finalist for the 2019/2020 Glass Chapbook Series and semifinalist for the Button Poetry 2018 Chapbook Contest, she is penning a second chapbook, as well as a novel.
