Winter Poems: 3

Haley Wooning

moon-wretched willow, tell me I am here
each dawn, the world seems to
empty itself of me

do I recognize
any longer
the still, silent heart of stones? once,
my dreams were kinder

swaddled in witch-cloth, my wings
over earth like all things possible
but grief displaced me and
rose instead
